What Is the Black Zodiac?
The Horrorscopes Black Zodiac is an original symbolic system created by author Keith G Sorrell, writing as the Keeper of Shadows.
It assigns a cursed spirit to each of the 12 traditional zodiac signs, plus Ophiuchus as an optional 13th sign. Each spirit represents the destructive extreme of its sign’s natural strengths, fears and hidden impulses.
Unlike traditional Western astrology, the Horrorscopes Black Zodiac is a modern mythic and psychological framework. It combines astrological symbolism, shadow psychology and original horror storytelling. It is intended for entertainment and self-reflection rather than literal prediction.
This system is separate from the Black Zodiac featured in the 2001 film Thir13en Ghosts.

Indeed, it is a world beyond the ordinary.
Long before astrology became light-hearted memes and glittery horoscopes, there existed primordial constellations that didn’t simply guide, but instead judged.
These constellations were not mere signs of personality, but dire warnings, as exemplified by The Fallen Demon. While undeniably dark, these celestial markers offer profound wisdom for those who dare to understand them.
Furthermore, the last man to truly see the stars as they are, an unnamed seer known only as The Final Scribe, was specifically chosen to witness these unsettling truths.
He did not seek this destiny; rather, it found him, marking him as the sole observer of cosmic revelations that would forever change his understanding of the universe.
He did not ask for this fate, nor did he run from it. Instead, he simply obeyed when the stars bled red and called his name.
Far beneath the crust of time, in a cavern untouched by both sun and sanity, an ancient truth emerged. Carved into the very bones of the world: thirteen curses.
This revelation, hidden for eons, now stands as an undeniable testament to the dark forces that shaped the world’s fate.
In a feverish trance, he saw vivid visions of these thirteen dark archetypes, each one a twisted perversion of the zodiac signs. Driven by this revelation, he meticulously carved tablets into the stone.
Working tirelessly over twelve moon cycles to capture the essence of these malevolent forces.
Beneath these tablets, he engraved a chilling warning:

Meet the 13 Black Zodiac Spirits
When the stars bled and the void whispered, he carved the curses that bind us all.

The Final Scribe carved him to warn: might without mercy becomes a curse that crushes all.

The Fictional Legend Behind the Black Zodiac
The following story forms the fictional mythology of the Horrorscopes Black Zodiac universe.
Long before the Black Zodiac was given a name, an unknown seer received thirteen visions beneath a blood-red sky. History remembers him only as the Final Scribe.
Each vision revealed a tormented spirit: a destructive reflection of one of the twelve traditional zodiac signs, followed by a forbidden thirteenth spirit connected to Ophiuchus. Fearing that the visions would be lost—or unleashed—the Final Scribe carved their names, forms and warnings onto thirteen stone tablets.
When the final inscription was complete, the Scribe disappeared. The tablets remained hidden in a cavern for centuries, untouched and unread.
In the 15th century, an occult scholar named Davina Voss discovered the cavern and its thirteen tablets. Gifted with the ability to interpret their forgotten symbols, she transcribed their inscriptions into a single volume: The Book of the Black Zodiac Spirits.
But Davina did more than copy what she found. Through a binding ritual, she sealed the essence of the thirteen spirits within the Grimoire, transforming the book into both a record and a prison.
To guard the Grimoire and prevent its secrets from being misused, Davina founded the Order of the Obsidian Star. She became its first Keeper, beginning a hidden lineage charged with watching over the book and preserving the warnings of the Final Scribe.
The Grimoire was never entirely silent. It whispered to each new Keeper, waiting for the seals to weaken—and for the thirteen spirits to rise again.

Frequently Asked Questions: The Black Zodiac
Q1: What is the Horrorscopes Black Zodiac?
The Horrorscopes Black Zodiac is an original symbolic system created by Keith G Sorrell, writing as the Keeper of Shadows. It assigns a cursed spirit to each traditional zodiac sign, with Ophiuchus included as an optional thirteenth sign. Each spirit represents the destructive extreme of its sign’s strengths, fears and hidden impulses.
Q2: Who created the Horrorscopes Black Zodiac?
The Horrorscopes Black Zodiac was created by British horror author Keith G Sorrell, writing as the Keeper of Shadows. It combines original horror mythology, astrological symbolism and psychological shadow archetypes. Its fictional history centres on the Final Scribe, Davina Voss, the thirteen stone tablets and the Order of the Obsidian Star.
Q3: What are the 13 Black Zodiac spirits?
The thirteen spirits are: The Tyrant, The Fallen Demon, The Silent Assassin, The War Maiden, The Basilisk, The Maelstrom, The Ravenous, The Serpent, The Tempest, The Leviathan, The Beast, The Sword and The Serpent Bearer.
Q4: Can I find out my Black Zodiac sign based on my birthday?
Yes. Your Black Zodiac sign aligns with the same date range as your traditional zodiac sign, but its meaning is far more sinister. Instead of traits like “ambitious” or “empathetic,” you’re met with cursed spirits such as the Tyrant, the War Maiden, or the Serpent. Your birthday reveals which of these shadow forces binds itself to your soul.
Q5: Why do Sagittarius and Ophiuchus have overlapping dates?
Ophiuchus is an optional thirteenth sign within the Horrorscopes system. Readers following the traditional twelve-sign zodiac remain Sagittarius from November 22 to December 21. Those choosing the alternative Ophiuchus interpretation may use The Serpent Bearer for November 29 to December 17.
Q6: How is it different from the Dark Zodiac?
While the Dark Zodiac twists the 12 signs and Ophiuchus into shadowy archetypes like the Blood Ram, the Black Zodiac plunges deeper, binding cursed spirits to each sign, such as Cancer’s War Maiden or Pisces’ Sword. The Dark Zodiac explores hidden traits; the Black Zodiac channels tormented souls, amplifying destructive vices and cosmic dread for a darker, more cursed reflection.
Q7: Is it real astrology, or is it a symbolic system?
The Black Zodiac isn’t a classical astrological system; it’s a symbolic framework that blends occult archetypes with psychological shadow work. Rather than predicting your future, it confronts the darker patterns you carry. Think of it as a mythic mirror—not literal astrology, but a powerful tool for exploring the parts of yourself you’d rather keep buried.
Q8: Is this the same Black Zodiac as the one in Thir13en Ghosts?
No. The Horrorscopes Black Zodiac is an original system created by Keith G Sorrell. The Black Zodiac in the 2001 film Thir13en Ghosts is a separate fictional concept with a different collection of spirits and its own mythology.
Q9: How can I use the Black Zodiac for shadow work and self-reflection?
Each spirit represents destructive patterns associated with a zodiac sign, such as control, envy, obsession, avoidance or self-sacrifice. The archetypes can be used as prompts for journalling, meditation and personal reflection. The Black Zodiac is a symbolic creative framework and is not a substitute for professional psychological or medical guidance.
Q10: Who is it intended for?
The Horrorscopes Black Zodiac is intended for readers interested in dark astrology, horror mythology, symbolic archetypes and personal reflection. It can be explored as an original fictional universe, a creative interpretation of zodiac traits or a prompt for examining destructive habits and hidden fears.
Q11: Can it predict the future?
No. The Black Zodiac describes symbolic shadow traits and destructive behavioural patterns. It does not provide scientifically validated personality assessments or predict specific future events. Horrorscopes’ daily readings are written for entertainment and personal reflection.
